Students' International Conference on “Environmental Problems in South Asia” @ USLLS, IP University; Abstract Submit by Oct. 2.

About the Conference:
Mother earth is a unique planet unparalleled by its wide variety of flora and  fauna. It is distinctive in the sense that it is the only planet where human life knowingly exists. It has gifted human beings with the richness of minerals and natural resources besides the biodiversity, forests and wildlife adding feathers to its crown. Human intelligence has made the man walk on the moon and well beyond in space to use the resources for taking civilization to the present era of extreme advancement reflected in urbanization, industrialization and
global trade. Using his knowledge and skill the man has created a space for himself full of mundane comfort through modern amenities, but with quite disregard to the aesthetics and beauty of the environment. Man did not give a friend’s eye to the nature and kept on carrying out the activities detrimental to its interest. This is no less than an aggression resulting into soaring temperature, disease, unrest, loss of compassion because of pollution of air, water, soil, atmosphere, mind, system and what not. The miseries of men are incessantly multiplying day by day at a very high degree of acceleration. Social, economic and political conflicts are adding fuel to the fire and man seems in an unabated war with his own existence. South Asian countries are facing all these environmental challenges like any other part of the world. Additionally, they have been a recipient of some of the worst forms of catastrophic eco-aggression in the
form of tsunamis, floods, landslides, drought, famine, cloud bursts, earthquakes, etc. Callousness in regulation of human activities causing
frequent threats to safe environment by harmful industrial emissions is also a serious concern. This all can be stopped and mitigated by a united and concerted effort of the people of South Asia together. South Asia is definitely divided by political borders, but it is one Culture. This beautiful trust, an unrivalled possession handed over by forefathers, is for continued inter-generational justice. Man has to balance his need and greed.
Objectives:
To develop cogent thinking and understanding of environmental issues among the students and younger generations of South Asia for a sustained and harmonic future existence with fellow feeling and empathy.
