The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The Act incorporated a University of Law of national stature in Punjab, to fulfill the need for a Centre of Excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization. Kothi, The Mall, Patiala w.e.f. 26 May 2006. The University acquired approval of the Bar Council of India (BCI) in July 2006. The University also got registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and has been declared fit to obtain grant from the (UGC) under Section 12-B of the UGC Act, 1956. The Mall, Patiala (from 2006 to 2013) located in the heart of Patiala city in a pollution free environment. The University was accredited with ‘A’ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2015. RGNUL, Punjab was granted autonomy under UGC Regulations, Clause 5 Dimensions of Autonomy for Category-II Universities in April 2018.The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, ranked RGNUL the first amongst the cleanest Higher Educational Institutions, Swachh Campus (2019) in the category of Government Residential Universities.
The verdant and spacious campus of RGNUL at Sidhuwal, Bhadson Road, Patiala spreads across an area of 50 Acres of land. The state-of-the-art Campus has an Administrative-cum- Academic Block, Library, Auditorium, Sports Complex, Boys and Girls Hostels, Guest House, Community Hall, Health Centre, Residences, Stadium, Gymnasium, Canteen and facility area. PUNJAB STATE INFORMATION COMMISSION
The Government of Punjab constituted the Punjab State Information Commission on 11th October, 2005. The Punjab State Information Commission is the statutory Commission for fulfilling the mandate assigned to it under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The Commission exercises powers for implementation of RTI Act under Sections 18, 19, 20 and 25. At the same time it is a Public Authority as defined in section 2(h) of RTI Act, 2005. As far as the jurisdiction of the Commission is concerned it extends to all the Public Authorities in the State of Punjab.
Sh. Suresh Arora, IPS (Retd.), has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner, Punjab under section 15 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 and joined the office on 10.07.2019.
The Punjab State Information Commission is the primary recipient of complaints from citizens and is further involved in the process of investigation and examination of records. The Commission has been instrumental in conducting inquiries and securing compliance from public authorities under the purview of the Right to Information Act, 2005. The Commission has also played a vital role in ensuring transparency in the functioning of various echelons of authorities. It has been instrumental in combating misuse of authority, while being the facilitator for transparent practices.
The main office of the Commission is located at Red Cross Building, Near Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh. It houses the office of the Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners.

To explain the strategy for operationalizing Right to Information.
To discuss the practical problems faced by the PIO’s and the stake holders.
To deliberate upon the efficient implementation of the Act.
