RATIONALE OF THE INITIATIVE:

The Honourable Prime Minister of India unveiled the Start-up India initiative on August 15, 2015. The flagship programme intends to establish a robust ecosystem for fostering innovation and start-up companies in the nation, which would stimulate sustainable economic growth and generate substantial employment possibilities.

Furthering to the Initiative; India has created a niche for itself in the field of start- ups and entrepreneurship . India ranked 19th among 100 countries in the list of top 100 start-up hubs of the world in 2021, according to the report by Start-up Blink. The same report had ranked India at the 48th position in 2020. On the other hand, as per the Start-up Ecosystem Report 2022, Bengaluru (8), Delhi NCR (13) and Mumbai (17) were among the top 20 most promising start up hubs. Earlier, a report by Start-up Genome had placed Bengaluru at the fifth position in the world for tech venture capital investments in 2022. Start-ups from Bengaluru raised $7.5 Bn in funding between January and May 2022, only fifth to Silicon Valley, London, New York and Boston.

Therefore, the comprehensive program covering the legal aspects of start-ups in India is tantamount. With the motive of ‘law in action’ ; the proposed course will cater to substantial legal compliances required by the start-ups at different steps of the establishment.

OBJECTIVES:

• To facilitate start-up Initiative of Government of India through legally empowered professionals specialising in the field;
• To provide for one stop solution to legal prerequisites of entrepreneurships;
• To encapsulate the legal response to different business models;

• To equip the students with nuances of legal auditing for start-ups;
• To bridge the gap of apprehension between preaching and practice of law in

the sphere of start-ups; and
• To cater to the diversifying legal needs of virtual and real business requirements.
