In the case of a recent porn racket, Sherlyn Chopra has been refused by the Mumbai Session Court for the grant of anticipatory bail when she approached for her apprehension of the arrest after its Co-accused Raj Kundra was arrested. The apprehension of the arrest is in relation to FIR which was registered in the year 2021, February for the offenses covered under sections 292, 293 of IPC and sections 67 and 67A of the Information Technology Act. Chopra was served with the summon notice under section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for recording the statement as a witness. After responding to the application by Chopra, the Mumbai police have submitted that they have found that the crime committed have been bigger than it has seemed when FIR was registered. There may be a large number of victims in this case and the crime branch is identifying them. Sherlyn Chopra has expressed her opinion on the social media and electronic media due to which a show cause notice was sent to her on July 26 2021. However, she didn’t appear before the crime branch for the record of statement instead she filed the present application. After considering the contentions and submissions of both the parties, the Session Judge have refused to grant the anticipatory bail to Chopra.
