NLUO British Parliamentary Debate 2022 (April 15-17); Register by March 12

The National Law University Odisha (NLUO) is a vibrant addition to India’s national law universities. Within the short span, NLUO has made its mark as a university engaged in teaching and research in law. Faculty research output has always been of a very high standard, yielding among others several top-tier international publications. The student community’s engagement with co-curricular activities has yielded remarkable results, including consistently high performances in moot court competitions and active participation in prestigious national and international conferences and seminars. The liberal yet demanding academic culture coupled with the friendly environment have ensured that students are able to harness their full potential and contribute in the area of their choice.

The University has received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956, and has been receiving grants under the XIIth Plan. Its degrees offered are recognised by the Bar Council of India. It is also an associate member of the UGC-INFLIBNET, and a participant in the National Knowledge Network under the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, Government of India.

The tournament would be held completely online on Zoom and Discord. This year we would be following these Gender Diversity and Adjudication Policies.

The details of the tournament are as follows:

*Format: British Parliamentary Debate
*Cross teams allowed.
*Platforms: Zoom & Discord.
*Break categories: Open and Novice (Novice Criteria to be released subsequently)
*Registration fees for Each Speaker = INR 450/- (Indian teams) or USD 6/- (International teams)
*Registration fees for Independent and Institutional Adjudicators = INR 400/- (Indian) or USD 6/- (International)
*Deadline for Phase 1 registration is 12th March 2022 (11:59 P.M. IST)

*Adjudicator policy for institutions: N-1 (where N = number of teams registered). If only one team is registers, then at least one adjudicator will be required.

*Adjudicator policy for Cross Teams: N=N (where N = number of teams registered)

*Gender Diversity Policy: We will be implementing a gender-diversity policy at registration that requires contingents to have at least 50% non cis-male persons. The policy would be followed strictly. However, if any specific contingent genuinely fails to meet the above-mentioned criterion, you are requested to drop us a mail at [email protected]. The request will be assessed case to case basis and the decision of the organizing committee will be final and binding.

Speakers in Institutional or Cross teams:

  • For Indian participants, INR 450/- per speaker
  • For International participants, USD 6/ – per speaker

Institutional and Independent Adjudicators:

  • For Indian participants, INR 400/- per adjudicator
  • For International participants, USD 6/ – per adjudicator

Relevant Dates

Phase I Registrations end at 11:59 PM (IST) 12th of March 2022 after which we shall be releasing the allotment list for all participants.
