ABOUT INDIAN SOCIETY OF CRIMINOLOGY
The Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) was established in the year 1970, with the objectives of advancing the study and application of Criminology and Allied Sciences, for the welfare of the society. It also endeavored to facilitate cooperation among persons interested in the prevention and control of crime, which has escalated over time. Over a short span, the ISC developed into a pioneering National organization, due to the cumulative efforts of its dedicated founders. The Society has extended and decided to promote Criminological education and advanced Research in the area of Criminology, and it is in this spirit that the Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) organizes an International Conference every year, at different locations. A platform that has now become a major attraction for budding Criminologists, to shape their thinking and invite interest towards the interdisciplinary field of Criminology.
ABOUT THE COLLOQUIUM
Over the past five decades, the Indian Journal of Criminology has played a pivotal role in advancing the field of criminology in India and beyond. It has provided a platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to share their insights, discoveries, and analyses on various aspects of criminology, criminal justice, and related disciplines. This remarkable milestone of 50 years not only signifies the journal’s enduring commitment to the field but also underscores the collective efforts of the academic community in advancing our understanding of crime and criminal behaviour. The Indian Journal of Criminology marks a significant milestone as it celebrates five decades of scholarly contributions to the field. Established in 1973, the journal has been a beacon of knowledge, fostering the exchange of ideas and insights within the criminological community.
In honor of this momentous occasion, National Law University Delhi and Indian Society of Criminology announces a day colloquium. This platform will not only reflect on the journal’s rich history but also serve as a forum for envisioning the future of criminology in India. Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, the colloquium aims to bring together the brightest minds in the field, fostering collaboration and inspiring the next generation of criminologists.
