NLU Delhi Call for Application for Field Investigators (Bangalore) (Deadline: Oct. 28, 2023)

The Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy (CLLRA) at the National Law University, Delhi (ā€˜Universityā€™) is seeking to engage TWO (2) Field Investigators, under the ICSSR Project titled, ā€œ(In)visibility in Law and Policy: Migrant Domestic Workers (live-in) in Delhi and Bangaloreā€ to work for a period of Three (3) months.

About the Centre:

Centre for Labour Law Research and Advocacy (CLLRA) is established to reinvigorate the constitutional philosophy of ā€˜decent work for allā€™ by ensuring dignity at work and enjoyment of equal social, cultural and economic opportunities for workers. CLLRA focuses on understanding the labour policy paradigm from an interdisciplinary pedagogical framework and conversing with social realities to undertake meaningful advocacy and outreach initiatives.

About the Research Project:

This ICSSR Approved Major Research Project aims to study the status of live-indomestic workers in two cities, Delhi and Bangalore. The study tries to inquire into the employment agreements/contractual documents between the placement agency/service provider and the workers and between the workers and the employers, to understand the necessity of standardization of employment agreement to regulate this sector. The vulnerability of live-in domestic workers is both at the entry point (during procurement), at the hands of the placement agencies/service providers and at the end point, at the mercy of the employers (during employment). This is an empiricalproject to inquire whether there exists any sort of formal document to regulate work and relationship in the sector. This question helps us to explore various forms of contractual documents/employment agreements between the three stakeholders mentioned above.

Responsibilities:

  1. Creating a repository of trade unions, workersā€™ associations, and helplines fordomestic workers in Bangalore
  2. Identify the field of research and participants in the field work in Bangalore
  3. Provide assistance during the fieldwork at Bangalore and to assist the project regarding any data collection and analysis.

Qualifications:

A Postgraduate in Law with 55% marks.

Compensation: Salary will be Rs. 15,000/- (Consolidated) per month. Research Associate will be funded out of the grants received under the Major Research Project Sponsored (2023-25) from the ICSSR, New Delhi.
