ABOUT MNLU NAGPUR

Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur was established by the Government of Maharashtra in 2016. It is an academic fraternity of individuals determined for excellence and holistic development in order to contribute effectively to the society. It aims to provide society with socially responsible and accountable legal professionals. In order to realise this holistic vision, the University strives to develop legal and intellectual acumen among the academic fraternity for instituting confident and critical outlook towards the legal profession and society.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL SEMINAR

The National Seminar on ‘Changing Contours of Personal Laws in India’ envisions to provide a platform for deliberations on nuances of personal laws in India. Personal laws are unique in multiple ways, as it deals with relationship between two or more individuals based on various socio, economic, cultural, and legal factors. The status and rights of an individual are the cornerstone of personal laws. In the contemporary Indian society, due to several factors, there are multiple challenges relating to matrimonial obligations, individual autonomy, and domestic violence, to name a few, which needs to be addressed in an efficient manner. Further, there is a need for deliberation on the possibilities of expanding horizons on encouraging inter-disciplinary approaches with personal laws. Thus, this Seminar organised by the University is to comprehend the issues and challenges; and changing facets of personal laws in India.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The University is organising a National Seminar on ‘Changing Contours of Personal Laws in India’, during March 3-4, 2023, in the offline mode. The Seminar invites full length scholarly papers in the emerging areas of personal laws on theoretical, methodological, and empirical investigations; including but not limited to the sub-themes of the Seminar. The researchers intending to participate in the Seminar must submit an abstract, clearly denoting the focus area of the paper, research, and relevance to the theme of the Seminar.

The sub-themes of the National Seminar are only indicative and not exhaustive. We invite and encourage papers from other allied areas of Personal laws.

GUIDELINES FOR PAPER SUBMISSION

Abstract: The abstract shall not exceed more than 250 words and must reach the organiser on or before January 10, 2023, accompanied by a cover page stating the following:

➢ Title of the paper
➢ Name of the Author(s)
➢ E-mail address of the Author(s)
➢ Postal address and Contact Number

Note: Co-authorship up to only two authors is permissible for each paper. Full Papers: The following guidelines should be followed:

  1. The word limit of the paper shall be 4000-5000 words (exclusive of footnotes).
  2. Name and details of Author and Co-author.
  3. The line spacing for the main text and footnotes should be in 1.5 and 1, respectively.

    (Endnotes are not permitted).

  4. The paper must be in single column lay out with margins justified on both sides.
  5. The main text should be in 12 font size and footnotes should be in 10 font size, Normal, Times New Roman and justified.
  6. Uniform mode of citation must be followed; preferably MNLU, Nagpur mode of citation.
  7. The File Name shall be strictly in the following nomenclature. For Example: Name of Author _Title of paper.
  8. The abstract and full paper must be submitted in .doc format.
  9. Plagiarism declaration statement in the e-mail. (The Plagiarism limit are as per UGC

    regulations).

NATIONAL SEMINAR PROCEEDINGS AND PUBLICATION

The organisers reserves the right to publish the shortlisted paper(s) for presentation in a National Seminar proceeding/Journal.

AWARDS

One paper from each sub-theme will be given the BEST PAPER Award Certificate. The Best paper shall be selected from amongst the papers based on timely submission made within deadline; adherence to the rules, and payment of fees for the Seminar.

The participants need to register for the National Seminar after the acceptance of their abstracts through the below given link.

A participant may register for the Seminar as a delegate without presenting the paper.

Note:

  1. The registration fee includes Seminar kit, Access to all Sessions, Lunch and Refreshments during the Seminar; but does not include cost of accommodation and/or any allowance.
  2. Students and Research scholars must submit a copy of their ID card or letter of supervisor/ HOD at the Seminar venue, stating that they are currently enrolled in a college or university.
