The three-day extravaganza of ‘Colossus’, the much awaited annual festival of HNLU and IMUN began today with an Inaugural Ceremony graced by Ms. Nami Rai, National Athlete and a world record holder in powerlifting as the Chief Guest of the ceremony, The event also had Mr. Rajkamal Nayak, nationally renowned theater personality address the gathering.
The event has the inaugural address by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan who outlined the signature event of ‘COLOSSUS’ not just an event but a platform that brings together the diverse tapestry of talents that thrive within our community. He went on to add that COLOSSUS as a reflection of HNLU’s commitment to fostering holistic growth and celebrating the multifaceted abilities of our participants where the thrill of the sports field to the depth of literary endeavors and the sheer exuberance of cultural performances, set to happen under one magnificent roof.
Ms. Nami Rai the renowned powerlifting champion who had set the world record and recently bagged the Gold Medal in pan Asian games narrated the challenges to be a woman sportsman specially in powerlifting and fitness in Indian Context which she overcame and proved herself to be an inspiration to women in the country. She stressed on discipline, perseverance and dedication as the mantras for success in any field and urged it all the more important to future lawyers of their challenging career.
Mr. Rajkamal Nayak, the renowned theater personality, a Sahithya Academy Award winner and the Guest of Honour, spoke about how performing arts is a soul purifier and a hallmark of any society. He beautifully explained the linkage between stage life and real life and how one inspires the other. With his mesmerizing words, he invoked the power of the youth to bring about a positive change.
The event had Dr.Deepak Srivastav, Dean UG welcoming the gathering, Dr.Ankit Singh the faculty convenor of the Sports and Cultural committee briefing on the event and Vote of thanks by Registrar Dr. Vipan Kumar.
The dignitaries lit the inaugural lamp to mark the beginning of the event and later inaugurated the cricket match between hosts HNLU and NUSRL Ranchi to mark the beginning of the sports. The event has more than 800 students from the State of Chhattisgarh and all over India registered and participating in the events of literary, music, sports and the Model UN sessions to culminate in the final day prize distribution and conclusion.
