The Data Protection & Privacy Legal Practice Group, which reports to the Corporate & Regulatory Law General Counsel, provides legal advisory services across all of the Firmâs lines of business and corporate functions with respect to data protection laws globally including privacy, safeguarding, bank secrecy, blocking, professional confidentiality, data localization, cross-border data transfer, biometrics, and breach notification laws.
They are seeking a motivated, solution-oriented Counsel with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team and who understands that data is mission-critical to the Firmâs ability to effectively function and compete in a data-driven economy.
This role will primarily:
¡ Perform legal research to help ensure understanding of the complex framework of current and evolving legal requirements around the world
¡ Prepare legal guidance
¡ Prepare tranining and awareness materials
¡ Assist in the drafting and development of internal data protection policies, procedures, guidance, and best practices
¡ Assist in negotiating and documenting the Firmâs relationships with its customers and vendors
¡ Identify and help the Firm stay abreast of developments and trends in data protection
 Location and Reporting Lines:
The position is in Mumbai, at J.P. Morganâs Corporate Centre (âMCCâ), reporting to the Data Protection & Privacy Legal Practice Group in the United States with local supervision at the MCC.
Qualification :
3-7 years of relevant data protection and privacy law exprience with a law firm or corporate law department. In-house experience in financial services or data-driven technology sectors desirable. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
