GNLU Silvassa
GNLU Silvassa Campus has been established to promote quality legal education in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and provide the students of the UT with skill development and job opportunities. The Transitory Campus is at Old Sachivalaya, Secretariat Building, Amli, Silvassa. Admissions in the five-year integrated BA LLB course will take place in 2023, with 25% seats reserved for students with domicile of the Union Territory. We are keen to engage with the local industries and manufacturing companies in the near future to provide skill training workshops in interdisciplinary aspects of law, economics and management.
Need and Purpose of the Labour Codes
- Aimed to rationalize and simply various labour laws with a view to create a congenial environment both for the capital and labour;
- To safeguard the rights of employers and employees/workers by providing a simplified legal regime to facilitate – ease of doing business and trade;
- Simplification of the procedure relating to Registration and Licensing; filing of Annual Returns as well as Data Collection etc;
- To mitigate industrial conflicts and to ensure industrial peace and harmony, also to provide a measure of social security benefits protection to all the categories of workers who were hitherto deprived of such protection;
- Establishing competent mechanisms to ensure the safety and welfare of employees/workers; and
- Provision of stringent penal provisions covering imprisonment with an appropriate penalty in situations of non-compliance on the part of the establishment/employer.
Aim of the Program
The Programme aims at equipping the Participants with the broad scheme and key features pertaining to the Code on Wages, 2019; the Code on Industrial Relations, 2020; the Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions, 2020; and the Code on Social Security, 2020. To clarify the background purpose of simplification and rationalization of prevailing labour laws regime towards the creation of an environment of easing the business and to improve the trade and commerce in the country.
Objectives of the Program
- To provide an understanding of the context and the need for present dispensation;
- To provide an understanding on jurisprudence behind the enactment of four Labour Codes;
- To provide a deeper understanding of the inbuilt scheme contained in the four Labour Codes.
Delivery and Methodology
- This workshop shall be conducted on the 2nd Floor, Kala Kendra, Silvassa.
- The training will primarily use interactive methods, lectures, and discussions, followed by questions and answers.
- Reading Material shall also be provided to participants of the workshop.
Those who successfully complete the programme will be issued a Certificate of Participation by Gujarat National Law University.

- The program is scheduled for 06 th – 07 th February 2023 (Monday- Tuesday).
- There will be three (03) lecture and discussion sessions on each day.
