The Organizers:
National Law University, Delhi (NLUD) established in 2008 by Act No.1 of 2008 of National Capital Territory of Delhi and with the initiative of High Court of Delhi, is a premier Law University established in India. The vision of the University is to create a Global Legal Institution which will compete with the best outside India and to prepare lawyers for a legal career that introduces them to wide range of opportunities in legal profession across the globe. The University is offering the five year integrated B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Programme from the year 2008 and the LL.M., Ph.D. and P.G. diploma programme from the year 2011.

Centre for Transparency and Accountability in Governance:
Centre for Transparency and Accountability in Governance, National Law University Delhi has been constituted to uphold the commitment of the rule of law and good governance. The Centre emphases on sensitizing people on transparency and accountability in governance; empowering people such as students, lawyers, & public officials to contribute effectively to ensure transparency and accountability in governance; and creating and promoting quality research in the area of transparency and accountability in governance. The Centre also provides, free of cost, for training, sensitization and consultative services on RTI.  The Centre also  has organised national and International Conferences on good governance issues.
National Academy of Law Teachers:
NLUD has established National Academy of Law Teachers (NALT) to improve quality of teaching and research. The National Academy of Law Teachers will provide training in teaching, research and curriculum development. Keeping this in view, NALT organised the first workshop on “New Perspectives for Teaching of Intellectual Property Law” in association with the University of Washington on 4-5 March, 2012. The second in the series was “Basic Course on Teaching of Criminal Law” which was held from 18-22 June, 2012; a “Basic Course on Teaching of Criminal Procedure” from 8-14 December, 2012 and other programmes on research methodology in 2013 and 2014.
The NALT now proposes to organize a Seven days basic course on “Capacity Development Programme for Teachers in administrative law and governance” (December 15-21, 2014). The idea behind organizing this event is that administrative law and governance teaching in India generally lacks orientation and is also affected by curriculum issues, approach to teaching and standardization of course material. Administrative law and governance in India is taught at various levels, which includes a few independent departments, or as part of teaching in law, social work, sociology and psychology. This interdisciplinary subject has tremendous potential to contribute for policy and other applied objectives.
Against this backdrop, there seems a need to organize and intensive orientation programme to enhance the capacity and skills of teachers engaged in the teaching of administrative law and governance at various levels.

 Objectives of the Programme:

The following are the key objectives of this training programme:-

  1. To identify the thrust areas in the teaching and research in administrative law and governance.
  2. To critically assess the existing status of teaching approaches in administrative law and governance and to evolve effective alternatives.
  3. To develop innovative methodology in imparting practical skills in selected components of administrative law and governance teaching.
