Newsletter on Developments in Banking & Insurance Laws (NDBIL) is a quarterly publication of the Centre for Banking and Insurance Laws (CBIL). We are pleased to inform you that CBIL successfully launched its maiden issue of this Newsletter at the Training Programme for Bankers’ on NPAs in April, 2014. CBIL now calls for papers for the II Issue of NDBIL which will be released by September, 2014.
Given the wide spectrum of banking and insurance laws related themes this Newsletter aims to cover, we invite contributions from academia, student community, bank professionals, lawyers, finance experts dealing with legal aspects of banking and insurance and also from the insurance industry professionals.
Thematic areas for the II Issue of the Newsletter are:
1. Insurance Regulatory Regime and legal discourse
2. Dishonour of Cheques- law and practice
3. Insurance claim conflicts and dispute resolution
4. Legal issues in banker-customer relationship
Submission Guidelines
Article Content: Articles must be scholarly, substantive, confining to the thematic areas specified and of practical use to the readers.
Submissions should be between 1,500 – 2500 words only. Editors will have the discretion to allow lengthier articles if necessary. Footnotes should be used for all citations. As a general rule, the footnotes should contain sufficient information to identify the cited source.
Time line for Submission:
1. Contributions shall be sent no later than 30th August, 2014 2. Please submit articles via email to the NDBIL Editor-in-Chief, Nachiketa Mittal at [email protected]/ [email protected]
Writing Style: Please note that NDBIL is a newsletter and not a law review or a law journal. Authors are advised to note the following to make their contribution worthy of reading and publishing:
– Include an interesting opening and closing observations/remarks
– Spell out all acronyms not commonly understood on first usage
– Avoid long quotations
– Use active voice rather than passive voice
– Use gender-neutral language
– Avoid using a long word when a short one will do
– Use 12 point font (Times Roman) for the article and 10 point for the footnotes
– Avoid using a foreign phrase, scientific word, or jargon if you can think of a more common English equivalent
– Avoid overworked figures of speech
– Avoid excessive capitalization or use of bold fonts
– Place URLs in footnotes
Review Process- The following review process may kindly be noted by the authors: Upon receipt, an article will receive an initial review. Once an article is accepted for publication, it will be reviewed for legal and substantive content and edited. The edited article if necessary may be then returned for author review. Deadline pressures make it impossible to submit final typeset proofs to authors, and several minor corrections typically are made at this stage. The editors reserve the right to make deletions to conform to space limitations. Subheads also may be altered at final stages.
Article Title- Authors are advised to title the manuscript with something to entice readers and to help clarify its thrust, nevertheless please note that the final titles are determined by the editor.
Prior Publication. Simultaneous submission of manuscripts to other publications is discouraged and must be brought to the attention of the NDBIL Editor-in-Chief. Unless otherwise clearly noted, all manuscripts are expected to be original.
