About the Seminar
Tribals popularly known as a symbol of self-assertion comprise of around 8.6% of the national population of India. The total population of tribals in India according to the 2011 census is 104,281,034 out of which women are 5, 18, 71, and 211 which amounts to almost half of the tribal population.
The status of women in a society is a significant reflection of the level of social justice in that society. Women’s status is often described in terms of their level of income, employment, education, health and fertility as well as their roles within the family, the community and society. In tribal communities, the role of women is substantial and crucial. In India women are discriminated due to several historical, religious and other reasons.
This seminar makes an attempt to identify the main problems of tribal women in India and tries to critically re-evaluate and re-define tribal heritage in order to draw out liberative elements and resources that would help tribal women in their struggle for gender justice at all walks of life.
The Seminar will focus on objective of STATUS OF TRIBAL WOMEN IN 21ST CENTURY: LAWS AND THEIR IMPLEMENTATIONS”. There is a need to create awareness about women laws.
This awareness will strengthening the position of the all sections of the society in the country thus the Seminar topic pose a lot of challenging area to be covered during technical sessions under difference themes such as:

  • Concept and connotation of Human Rights and Gender equality
  • Legislative Mandate towards Tribal Women
  • International instruments: Their values and importance for Tribal Women
  • Victims of Rape and Criminological Implication
  • Gender Justice and personal laws, whether any conflict is in question?
  • Judicial Activism towards Gender equality
  • Multiculturalism and Tribal Women
  • Offences against Marriage
  • Any other Topic/Sub-theme related to Tribal Women Rights
