18- 19 April 2024
Organised by
School of Law, Bennett University, Greater Noida
(Centre for Social Sciences and Academic Collaborations Committee)
in collaboration with
School of Law, Far Eastern Federal University, Russia
CONCEPT NOTE
Intersectionality, as a theory, started within the discourses of gender studies in the West. Over the past couple of decades, the theory has been highly contributive in understanding varied issues of discrimination arising because of intersecting factors across the world in diverse cultures. Since its inception, research, and activism in the domain of intersectionality has spread beyond specific gender and race related issues as it has provided the required lens for social, political, literary, and judicial inquiries and activism.
The scope of intersectional studies is extremely wide in the converging world of diverse cultures with conflicting interests and blended identities. The conference has been conceptualized to inquire further into the unique instances of opportunities, discrimination, and oppression in the ever-evolving world in relation to the concerns of justice. The conference welcomes scholars, academicians, practitioners, and activists across domains to deliberate and contribute to legal debates on intersectionality, emerging dimensions of the theory of Intersectionality and its applicability in diverse contexts and share their critique on intersectional narratives. These shared efforts would drive better insights into the practicality of the theory for the enhanced opportunities of justice.
