Bennett University ventured into the domain of higher education in Law and established School of Law in 2017 with a vision to strive for excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy towards Justice for all by shaping thought leaders in public policy of national and international dimensions. The school imbibes the best practices of national and international law schools in terms of curriculum, pedagogy, innovation in teaching methods and to add new interfaces addressing emerging new issues. Invested and promoted by the largest media enterprise, which is a natural ally in voicing people rights has envisaged this school to educate and train the future thought leaders in the field of Law. About the Journal
Bennett Journal of Legal Studies (BJLS) is an annual journal proposed to be published by the School of Law, Bennett University. The journal seeks to serve as an inter-disciplinary forum for examining socio-legal issues from contemporary perspectives. It aims to cater to the emergent need of widening the platform for academicians, practitioners, researcher scholars and experts and enable them to share both knowledge and scholarship of new and innovative ideas in legal and allied disciplines.
About Call for Papers
The Journal is currently soliciting submissions for a Volume 5 (February 2024). Contributors willing to submit article to the BJLS should observe the Editorial Policy
Eligibility
Any legal professional, law teacher and any LLB, LLM, PhD student enrolled in a law school/department/faculty recognized by the Bar Council of India can submit for the journal.
Theme
Scholarly submissions are solicited from scholars, academicians, and practitioners to contribute critical articles on contemporary developments in law.
Submission Categories
- Long Articles must be between 5000 and 8000 words (exclusive of footnotes) and must engage in comprehensive analysis of the chosen issue, its status quo, any identifiable lacunae, well examined literature available in that area and an original view or original assessment of that issue.
- Short Articles must be concise (both in scope and conceptualization) and deal with more specific issue, making an easily discernible, concrete and articulate argument. It can also be used to challenge existing paradigms/norms and provide fresh outlook to common problems. It should be within 3500 to 5000 words (exclusive of footnotes).
- Case Comments, Legislation Reviews or Treaty Appraisals are expected to undertake an original and critical analysis of important judicial decisions (preferably recent), legislations or treaties falling within the broad theme. It should be within 2000 to 3500 words (exclusive of footnotes).
- Book Reviews on any scholarly book which has been published within the last one year or whose latest edition has been released within the last one year should be within 1500 to 2000 words (exclusive of footnotes).
Formatting Guidelines
- All submissions must use A4 format, with 1inch margin on all sides,
- Use Times New Roman font with font size of 12 and line spacing of 1.5.
- All references should be footnoted in Times New Roman font size 10 and line spacing of 1.0.
- Speaking footnotes are allowed, though heavy usage of speaking footnotes is discouraged. Use of endnotes is not allowed.
- All submissions must be in .doc or .docx format. Submissions made in .pdf format or in any other formats shall not be considered.
Submission Guidelines
- Each manuscript submission must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words describing the relevant arguments made or conclusions that have been drawn, which should be placed at the beginning of the paper.
- Non-submission of abstract can serve as a ground for disqualification of the submission.
- Footnoting or Citation style prescribed under Blue Book shall be followed in order to maintain uniformity across submissions.
Submission Deadline
Last date for receiving contribution is 31st December, 2023.
Submission Procedure
- The submission can be co-authored with a maximum of two authors in total.
- All contributions and correspondence should be addressed to ‘The Editors, Bennett Journal of Legal Studies, School of Law, Bennett University.’
