ABOUT THE BOOK:
‘The Just Transition: Navigating Change for a Sustainable Future’ is an edited book that delves into pressing issues of environmental justice, climate justice, energy justice, and the concept of a “just transition”. The book focuses on fostering a sustainable and equitable future for all, exploring the interplay and significance of these intertwined topics. The central theme of the book revolves around the idea of a “just transition”, which advocates for a fair and inclusive shift toward creating a sustainable economy and society. This transition requires supporting workers and communities affected by the transformation from reliance on fossil fuels to embracing cleaner and renewable energy sources. The just transition framework aims to create a sustainable and equitable future that fosters a harmonious relationship between humanity and the environment.
The book emphasizes the need for community-driven initiatives, innovative technologies, and supportive policy frameworks for a just and sustainable transition, ensuring that social, economic, and environmental aspects are all taken into account. It aims to explore the multifaceted aspects of environmental justice in the context of the modern world and offer a comprehensive exploration of various aspects of these global challenges. This includes an analysis of the consequences of climate change on vulnerable populations, an examination of how environmental degradation exacerbates social inequalities, and an exploration of the opportunities for sustainable and equitable energy solutions. Furthermore, the book seeks to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and the environment, recognizing the potential of AI in addressing environmental challenges and its impact on environmental justice. Through its interdisciplinary approach, the book offers a nuanced understanding of the complex challenges and opportunities that lie ahead on the path to environmental justice.
