Conference on International Trade Implications of National Food Security Act, 2013

The GNLU Centre for Food Security and Agro Economy (GCFSAE) at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar has planned to organize One-day Conference on “Economic Implications of National Food Security Act” on August 9, 2014 at its campus from 10:00 am onwards.
The Conference would spread out in three disparate themes sessions, namely “Economic analysis of the WTO Bali round decision”, “Economic implications of National Food Security Act” and “India’s tryst with WTO with special reference to agricultural subsidies”.
Sessions:
1. Economic analysis of the WTO Bali round Decision.
2. Economic implications of National Food Security Act, 2013 and its International trade impacts. 3. India’s tryst with WTO with special reference to agricultural  subsidies.
A slew of measures and actions being taken in the field of food security by the government in the recent past coupled with the WTO Bali round which ended on a high note for India, the GCFSAE, GNLU is organizing One-day Conference on  August 9, 2014.
Submission Guidelines
All research papers should be submitted in word format as an email attachment to GNLU Centre for Food Security and Agro Economy at [email protected]
Research papers should resemble articles in a good academic journal in terms of quality, length and format.
Co-authorship is allowed.
All papers must include English language abstracts (300 words max.) and a list of up to 5 keywords.
Papers should not be more than 5000 words (incl. footnotes and  references). The papers submitted should be in MS word and PDF format.
Author/s should ensure that their paper discusses the impact on international trade and business.
Font: Garamond Size: 12, with 1.5” margin on the Left and 1.0” margin on the right, top and bottom with double space. Refer- ence should be sequentially arranged and should appear at the end.
Referencing Style: Chicago Manual, 16th Edition
Cover Page: The cover page of the paper should include the title of the paper along with the name of the Author
Sub-themes:
1. Economic analysis of the WTO Bali round decision
i.   The Non-cooperative policies and its economic impact on global economy
ii.  Minimum support price based system with reference to ‘due restraint’ clause
iii. Impact on Indian economy of allowing 100% FDI in agriculture sector
2. Economic implications of National Food Security Act, 2013 and its international  trade impacts
i.   Impact of 2013 Act on exports and how supply will meet demand created
ii.  The comparison between livelihood security and food security legislation
iii. Economic implications of adopting a ‘rights based approach’ through the 2013 Act
3. India’s tryst with WTO with special reference to agricultural sub- sidies
i.   Search for flexibility that can be brought within  Price-Support Mechanism for  developing  countries and hunt for alternative schemes
ii.  Permanent solution with regard to public Stock holding possibilities & difficulties in
Papers should be on any of the sub-topics mentioned above.
Registration Fee: Rs. 1000/- through DD only, on selection of the paper.
