The Centre for Advanced Research and Training in Arbitration Law (CARTAL) and the Indian Journal of Arbitration Law (IJAL) at National Law University, Jodhpur, are excited to announce the 8th Gary B. Born Essay Competition on International Arbitration, 2023.IJAL operates with the aim of bridging theoretical insights and practical relevance in arbitration. It welcomes diverse contributions from individuals with varying expertise, including academics and students, thus fostering innovative academic research. Complementing IJAL’s mission, CARTAL, led by Executive Director Dr.Rosmy Joan, is established by National Law University, Jodhpur to promote research and scholarship in arbitration. CARTAL has a distinguished Board of Advisors, including luminaries like Prof. Gary B. Born and Mr. Fali S. Nariman, and actively engages in organizing events, lectures, courses, and conferences on contemporary arbitration issues in collaboration with the University.

Open to students globally, we invite you to participate and contribute to the discourse on contemporary developments in this dynamic field.

Rules of the Competition:
- The competition is open to all students enrolled in an undergraduate or post graduateprogramme in law (B.C.L., J.D., LL.B., LL.M., or their local equivalent) in any recogniseduniversity across the world. Students who have completed an above-mentionedprogramme or their equivalent in 2023, and post graduate students who are selected forand will be enrolled in any such programme for 2023-2024 are also eligible to participate.
- To participate in the competition, interested students must e-mail a copy of theircompleted essays to [email protected] by February 20, 2024, 23:59 hours (Indian StandardTime, GMT +5:30). Late submissions shall not be accepted under any circumstances.
