About MNLU Nagpur

Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Nagpur was established by the Government of Maharashtra in 2016. The University is an academic fraternity of individuals striving towards the aim of excellence and holistic development to contribute effectively towards the society. The University aims to provide society with socially responsible and accountable legal professionals. In order to realise this holistic vision, the University through its various Centres strives for developing legal and intellectual acumen for the academic fraternity to institute a confident and critical outlook towards the profession and society.

Centre for Sports Law

Sports Law has emerged as a promising domain in the field of law around the globe due to its worldwide rapid commercialisation. Although India has a huge potential to develop world class sports infrastructure and a massive sports industry, however the domain of Sports Law has not been adequately explored in Indian context. Therefore, the University has established a Centre for Sports Laws which exclusively focuses on the goal-oriented research to initiate change and/or bring the revolution in the field of Sports Law by exploring the unfolded scope of Sports Law and its significance for the development of Sports in India. The Centre aims to develop and strengthen the suitable legal mechanism for the extended range of innovative, physical and mental, sports activities in India.

Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and DPIIT-IPR Chair

The Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) is one of the Advanced Legal Research Centre of the University intending to promote the Human, Social and Commercial values through exclusive socio-legal research in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. Further, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, selected Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur for the establishment of the DPIIT IPR Chair, under the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA). The chair was established to fulfill one of the several objectives of strengthening IP Chairs in educational institutes of higher learning to provide quality teaching and research, develop teaching capacity and curricula and evaluate their work on performance-based criteria. The University takes pride in obtaining approval for setting up the IPR Chair to promote Intellectual Property (IP) education and foster IP research.

Department of Management

Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur introduced the B.B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree Program with the aim of promoting Interdisciplinary Learning. It offers a unique blend of law and management. The Department of Management helps students integrate legal knowledge with management principles, enabling them to understand and navigate complex legal and business environments effectively. The course endeavours to enable students to develop skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making, which are essential for legal professionals. Department of Management at Maharashtra National Law University is playing a crucial role for equipping students with a comprehensive skill set that encompasses both legal and managerial competencies. This interdisciplinary approach prepares graduates to excel in a variety of legal and business roles, making them valuable contributors to society and the legal profession.

About the Conference

The National Conference on ‘Exploring Multifaceted Landscape of Sports Laws in India’ envisions to provide a platform for deliberations on nuances of Sports Laws in India. It is a domain of knowledge which is unique in multiple ways as it deals with behaviour of an individual related to the Sports activities. The protection of rights of an individual are the foundation of Sports Laws. In the contemporary Indian society, due to extended range of innovative, physical and mental, sports activities, there are multiple issues involved in the domain of Sports Laws relating to Harassment, Intellectual Property, Broadcasting, Endorsement, Franchising, Sponsorship, Merchandising, Doping, and Violence to name a few which needs to be addressed in an efficient manner. Further, there is a need for multidisciplinary deliberation on the possibilities of expanding horizons of Sports Laws. Thus, the Conference is organised by the Centre for Sports Law in collaboration with Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and DPIIT-IPR Chair and Department of Management to comprehend various issues and challenges for the development of Sports Laws in India by exploring its multiple facets interrelationships.

Call for Paper

The Centre for Sports Law in collaboration with Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and DPIIT-IPR Chair and Department of Management is organising a National Conference on ‘Exploring Multifaceted Landscape of Sports Laws in India’ during April 5-6, 2024, at its Campus in Waranga, Nagpur. The Conference invites full length scholarly papers in the emerging areas of Sports Laws on theoretical, methodological, and empirical investigations, including but not limited to the themes of the Conference.

The researchers intending to participate in the Conference must submit an abstract of not more than 250 words denoting clearly the focus of the paper, research and relevance to the theme of the Conference.

The sub-themes of the National Conference are only indicative and not exhaustive We invite and encourage research papers from other allied areas of Sports Laws.

Sub-theme-IV: Contemporary Development in Sports Laws in India

Guidelines for Paper Submission

The abstract should not exceed more than 250 words and must reach the organisers on or before February 10, 2024, accompanied by a cover page stating the following:

➢ Sub theme;
➢ Title of the paper;
➢ Name of the Author(s);

➢ E mail address;
➢ Postal address; and
➢ Contact Number.

Full Papers: :The following guidelines should be followed

  1. The word limit of the paper shall be 4000-5000 words (exclusive of footnotes).
  2. Name and details of Co author, if any.
  3. The line spacing for the main text and footnotes should be in 1.5 and 1 respectively. (Endnotes are not permitted)
  4. The paper must be in single column lay out with margins justified on both sides.
  5. The main text should be in 12 font size and footnotes should be in 10 font size, Normal, Times New Roman and justified.
  6. Citation Style: MNLU, Nagpur mode of citation or Bluebook Citation Style.
  7. The File Name should be in the format given Example Name of Author Title of paper.
  8. The abstract and full paper must be submitted in doc/docx format only.
  9. Plagiarism declaration statement in the e mail (The Plagiarism limit are as per UGC regulations).

National Conference Proceedings and Publication

The organisers will publish the shortlisted full paper(s) and the proceeding in the Flagship Journals of the University and/or Edited book.

Awards

One paper from each sub-theme will be awarded the ‘Best Paper Certificate’. The Best paper will be selected from amongst the papers which are received well within the specified deadline for submission of full paper and has adhered to all the rules related to formatting and paid the requisite Conference registration fee.

Note

  1. The registration fee does not include accommodation and only includes Conference kit, Access to all Sessions, Lunch and Refreshments during the Conference.
  2. Students and Research scholars must submit a copy of their ID card or letter of supervisor/ HOD at the Conference venue, stating that they are currently enrolled in a college or University.
  3. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
