MNLU Mumbai established the Centre for Research in Air & Space Law, to become an ideal forum for the exchange of ideas on the international law and policy applicable to implementing international air and space law. It is a centre for advanced research for those practising or studying international aerospace law.
The Centre engages in improving the existing legal and policy framework for facilitation and regulation of a safe, secure, affordable and sustainable space and contribute to the shaping of the legal foundation for the future of humanity that lies in space.

This competition aims to encourage legal minds, aviation enthusiasts, and aspiring scholars to delve into the intricacies of aviation law and unravel its significance in the modern era, in relation to specific themes presented
THEMES
- Critical Analysis of ICAO’s Aviation Safety Framework
- Disputes and Liabilities Concerning Aviation Accidents
- Streamlining the inconsistencies in Public International Law and Aviation Law
- The Future of Indian Aviation: Is India the New Emerging Leader?
- Analyzing the Indian Insolvency Regime in the Context of the Cape Town Convention in light of Go First’s insolvency
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Submissions shall be accepted from students/scholars enrolled in an under- graduate/post-graduate/PhD course in any University.
- Submissions shall be between 1500 – 2500 words long.
- Co-authorship is permitted, up to a maximum of 2 authors.
- All submissions must relate substantially or materially to the themes prescribed for the competition.
- The maximum similarity index of a submission must not exceed 10%.
- All essays will go through a plagiarism check in the Turnitin software and the detection of AI writing will lead to disqualification.
- The essay must not contain any reference to the identity of the author, including their name, institutional affiliation, or any other information by which they may be identified. However, all such details shall be filled in the google form.
- The submission sent for this competition must be original, unpublished and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, either online or in print.
FORMATTING GUIDELINES
- All submissions must be in Times New Roman, font size 12 and with 1.5 line spacing.
- Headings must be formatted in Times New Roman, font size 14, with 1.5 line spacing and must be bolded.
- Sub-headings must be formatted in Times New Roman, font size 14, with 1.5 line spacing and must be underlined in Small Caps.
- All submissions made shall conform to Bluebook 20th edition, citation standards.
- All submissions must be made only as a Microsoft Word Document (.doc/.docx). The name of the document shall be the title of the submission.
