ABOUT MNLU Mumbai
Maharashtra National Law UniversityMumbai, established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act2014 on 20th March 2014, is one of the premier National Law Universities in India. The Act envisaged to establish national Law University in Maharashtra to impart advanced legal education and promote society- oriented research in legal studies for the advancement of the societal life of the people in the country.
The prime goal of the University is to disseminate advanced legal knowledge and processes of law amongst the students and impart to them the skills of advocacy, legal services, and law reforms and make them aware and capable to utilize these instruments for social transformation and development. Since its inception, the University has made serious and sincere efforts to excel in the field of legal research and education.
In recent years the University has taken long strides in areas of research and has established Research Centers in the areas of Clinical Legal Education, criminal justice, Maritime Law; Research, Intellectual Property, Taxation Law, and Information Technology.
MNLU Mumbai has also been granted the Department for Promotion of Industries andInternal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry o f Commerce and Industry, Government of India’s IPR Chair.MNLU Mumbai also established the Centre for Maritime Law and Research with the support of the directorate General of Shipping, Government of India. The university has also undertaken several research projects.
CENTRE FOR CLINICAL LEGAL EDUCATION
The Centre for Clinical Legal Education was established in 2017 at MNLU Mumbai with the aim to discharge its social responsibility with zeal for institutionalizing the mission of social justice. The lack of awareness about rights and remedies in Law has led to massive manipulation and a steady growth of crimes. The Centre for Clinical Legal Education aims to tackle issues that people face in different realms of life by educating them about laws and making an impact. The university has therefore established the Centre for Clinical Legal Education in order to facilitate advanced learning of law and its incorporation into society. One of its impeccable initiatives was the POCSO awareness program for children in Shelter homes. Further, CCLE in association with the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai also provides Legal Aid Camps. ‘Right to Know Day’ was also celebrated in association with PCGT to educate individuals and create awareness about RTI.
Role and Responsibilities for Research Assistant
- Visit, non-governmental organisation, jails and other site visits
- Prepare reports, maintain records
- Work on data collectection
- Work in the field of Women & Child Rights
Role and Responsibilities for Design Assistant
- Record and Edit videos at sites and otherwise
- Use Canva or other designing applications
- Data representation in graphic format
- Basic Graphic Designing
- Should be willing to travel (in Mumbai)
