The DPIIT-IPR Chair is established at Osmania University under the SPRIHA scheme of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The IPR Chair aims to promote IPR Culture and contribute to IPR research and knowledge. The DPIIT-IPR Chair at Osmania University looks forward to collaborate with academics, researchers and industry to promote effective utilization of IPRs.

About the Event

The DPIIT-IPR Chair at Osmania University, is organizing a Know Your IP series of Weekly Lectures/ Interactions/ Interviews with the primary objective of dissemination of knowledge on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). It will offer insights and inputs on various forms of IPRs relevant to all the stakeholders, by demystifying the fundamentals of IP and highlighting the recent developments in the Intellectual Property (IP) domain.

The Know Your IP Week-26 of the Online Lecture Series is on the topic Standard Essential Patents – An Overview to be presented by Ms. C. Srinidhi, Senior Research Fellow, University College of Law, Osmania University.

Resource Person

Srinidhi C is a Senior Research Fellow at Department of Law, Osmania University. She is currently pursuing Ph.D. in the area of Standard Essential Patents.

She has completed B.A.LL.B from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun where she has specialized in Energy Laws. She went on to pursue her LL.M in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad.

She has qualified NTA-NET and has also secured the Junior Research Fellowship granted by the University Grants Commission. She has worked as an Assistant Professor at Alliance University, Bangalore. She has taught various subjects such as IPR, Public International Law, Jurisprudence etc. Her research interests include Patent Law, Copyright Law, Public International Law and Constitutional Law.

She has published research papers and book chapters in reputed journals and has participated in various national and international conferences. She has recently authored a book chapter titled ‘Licensing of Standard Essential Patents in the 5G era’ in the book ‘IPRs in Knowledge Era: Changing Contours’ by DPIIT IPR-Chair, Osmania University.

She has presented a research paper titled ‘Protection of Traditional Knowledge with Geographical Indications: Lessons from Pashmina and Banarsi Sari’ in National E-Conference on Intellectual Property Rights: Breaking Conventionalities and Future Prospects conducted by ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad.

She has written a book chapter titled ‘Standard Essential Patents: Shift of Perspective from patent hold-out to patent hold-up’ in the book titled ‘IP Rights: Issues and Implications’ (2022) by ALT publications.
