Lee Kong Chian International Visiting Professor
The Singapore Management University (SMU), Yong Pung How School of Law invites distinguished scholars to apply for the Lee Kong Chian Visiting Professor (LKC Visiting Professor) position, for a period for two months. This visiting professorship provides a unique opportunity for international scholars to develop academic networks and explore legal issues related to Singapore, ASEAN and Asia.

Its academic research focuses on cutting-edge issues of transnational commercial law in Asia, law and technology, and dispute settlement. SMU faculty members have diverse experiences in multiple jurisdictions and have published widely in leading international journals.
Job Descriptions
The LKC Visiting Professor will spend two months in residence at SMU, and will contributeĀ to undergraduate or post-graduate teaching and conducting research in his or her fields.
It is expected that the LKC Visiting Professor will teach one undergraduate or post-graduate course usually including 13 sessions, of 3 hours each; present at the faculty research workshop and the SMU Law Academy; interact with colleagues and mentor early career scholars; and develop one substantive publication.
Some candidates may be invited to serve as visiting faculty who will teach short-term courses (6 sections) or visiting fellows who will conduct research without teaching obligations. It is expected that they will stay at SMU for 3 weeks.
Qualifications
The LKC Visiting Professor should be a fullĀ professor or tenured associate professor/reader atĀ a reputable university and possess outstanding publications records. Leadership positions in research institutions/centres or international academic associations will be an asset.
Scholars with research in all areas of law are welcome, although subject areas of particular interest include commercial and financial law, law and sustainability (such as energy and environmental law), and law and technology (such as AI governance and computational law).
Compensation
The LKC Visiting Professor will be awarded SGD25,000 to SGD30,000, inclusive travel and accommodation expenses. The amount will depend on the candidateās qualification.
