FEMINIST CONSTITUTIONALISM: Women, Religion and the Law in Canada

The lecture will proffer that the present Multiculturalism and the Reasonable Accommodation framework in Canada raise critical issues of substantive equality. Focusing on the legislative regulation of racialised, minority women, and “de-veiling” laws in Canada (particularly in Quebec) it examines what their successful enactment and judicial upholding might mean for Canadian constitutionalism.
