MODALITIES FOR ENGAGEMENT OF ADJUNCT FACULTY IN THE UNIVERSITY

OBJECTIVES:

To develop a useful and viable collaboration between academics and professional in teaching various LL.B /LL.M subjects throughout the academic year.
To involve experts, professors and researchers from diverse field of legal profession to contribute to the emerging areas of legal areas.

To attract distinguished individuals who have expertise in their field of specialization and to improve legal education to the needs of contemporary society and develop employment opportunities.
To promote the interaction of skilled professionals with learners and facilitate imparting of professional skills acceptable to legal profession, entrepreneurship and employability.

To enable university to access eminent teachers, professionals and researchers to participate in teaching and to stimulate the research activities of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates for Adjunct Faculty should satisfy the minimum qualification of Assistant Professor for teaching at University level as prescribed in the Regulation framed by the University Grants Commission(UGC) ,OR

A person without a post graduate and PH.D degree having more than ten (10 yrs) professional experience and developed expertisein his chosen field of discipline; OR

An accomplished youngscholar in any area of specialization in the legal field and whose association would add value to the academic programs of the University.
The candidate ordinarily be below 75 years of age.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Selection would be made by the Selection Committee to be constituted as per provision of Rule.17 of the Schedule of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Act 1999 . The selection will be made subject wise and Selection Committee also be constituted subject wise. The selected names/ panel (with short CV) be placed before the Academic Council for recommendation to the Executive Council members for consideration and necessary approval.

IV. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITY:

Adjunct Faculty is expected to undertake following assignments:

  1. To teach courses within the syllabus directly in collaboration with the respective subject teachers. It is expected that in whole academic year one adjunct faculty to deliver minimum 15 lectures and maximum 30 lectures of each one hour duration per semester. An Adjunct Faculty may also be requested to take a Special short term/ credit Course.
  2. Adjunct Faculty from law firms, corporate houses or from legal profession will also impart training to students in skill based courses such as procedural laws, drafting, arbitration, mediation, corporate compliance etc.
  3. Adjunct Faculty may also be involved in the LL.M and Ph.D program based on his/her qualifications, expertise and research proficiency as adjudged by the University.
  4. Adjunct Faculty will deliver lectures offline OR online which would be decided by Curriculum Review Board(CRB) of the University from a list of subjects prepared by the CRB.
  5. Each Adjunct Faculty be associated or collaborated by one whole time Faculty of the University.
  1. HONOURARIUM:

    Adjunct faculty will be provided travel cost (economy class airfare) from his place of stay and accommodation. He/ She will be provided Rs. 2000/= or Rs. 3000/= per lecture.

  2. FEEDBACK FROM THE STUDENTS

    In view of UGC and NAAC requirements, Semester wise computer based Feedback will be taken of the Adjunct Faculties in the line of other whole time/Guest Faculties .
