About The National Law University Odisha & Bose & Mitra & Co. International Maritime Arbitration Moot:

The Moot Society of National Law University Odisha takes immense pleasure in announcing that the University shall be organizing the eighth editionof its flagship event, the   8th National Law University Odisha & Bose & Mitra & Co. International Maritime Arbitration Moot. The participating teams will be challenged to expand their understanding and defend their arguments rooted in theoretical as well as practical understanding of maritime law. The case study for this edition has been drafted by Prof. Andrew Tettenborn, Chair in Law, LLM Shipping & Trade; Prof. Simon Baughen, Professor (Maritime Law), LLM Shipping & Trade; & Prof. Dr. George Leloudas, Associate Professor, LLM Shipping & Trade; at The Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law, Swansea University, The United Kingdom. We at NLUO-IMAM believe in a rigorous selection process with an aim to ensure that the best teams proceed from the preliminary rounds and compete for the coveted prize. Thus, this year, along with memorial qualifiers, we are proud to introduce four rounds in the preliminary stage, where the top 20 teams will represent twice as claimants and twice as respondents in the oral rounds. The oral rounds of moot is scheduled to take place from 8th – 11th April, 2021.

In the 8th edition of IMAM 2021, we are proud to announce our collaboration with Bose & Mitra & Co. as our ‘Title Sponsor’ and The Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law (IISTL), Swansea University, the United Kingdom as ‘Associate Partner’. The awards for 8th IMAM 2021 are sponsored by Bose & Mitra & Co and the competition case study is drafted by IISTL, Swansea University. We also take pride in introducing our new collaboration with The Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) as ‘Global Partner’ and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR) as our ‘Resource Partner’.

Last Date for Submission of the Electronic Copy of the Memorials 11th February 2021
Last Date for Submission of the Electronic Copy of the Memorials (with penalty) 12th February 2021
Results of Memorial Qualifier rounds 05th March 2021
Last Date for Payment of the Final Registration Fee 01st April 2021
Oral Rounds 08th – 11th April 2021

 

Venue For The Competition:

We look forward to hosting the event on campus at National Law University, Odisha with all precautionary measures duly taken. However, if any exigent circumstances arise, the oral rounds shall be conducted virtually. Final confirmation of the venue will be intimated upon confirmation from the university administration by early March 2021.

Registration

The last date for filling the registration form with the final team composition details is 31st January 2021, meanwhile, the teams can provisionally register using the same link. The participating teams are required to pay an initial ‘preliminary registration fee’ of INR 1500 for the Indian Teams and USD 50 for the Overseas Teams by 31st January 2021. A total of twenty (20) teams, with the highest memorial scores, shall qualify for the oral rounds. The results of the memorial qualifier rounds will be released tentatively on 05th March 2021. The qualifying teams shall pay an additional ‘final registration fee’ of INR 5500 for the Indian Teams and USD 100 for the Overseas Teams by 1st April 2021.
