Webinar on Broadcasting Rights and Fair Use in Sports by NLUJ; Register Now

About CIPS

CIPS was established in 2018 with the aim to promote research and studies in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. The Centre also monitors, designs and disseminates various courses and programmes pertaining to training and research in intellectual Property Rights.

About the Webinar

Sport has always been at the forefront of public consciousness and that has been made more evident with the advent of social media platforms. This rise of social media has opened new challenges in the fields of copyright law as well given the ease with which people can now record and upload highlights and clips in relation to sports on these platforms. It has been asserted by sporting organisations and broadcasters that this encroaches upon their intellectual property rights over the broadcast of the sport. Thus, the webinar shall be a discussion on the legal issues pertaining to broadcasting. The webinar seeks to provide participants with industry insight on how broadcasting agreements are negotiated and drafted, and the role of lawyers in advising clients in relation to such copyright claims and the process for filing take down notices.
