St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Pala was established in 1957 as one of the pioneer institutions in the field of teacher education. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2007. The college is owned and run by the Catholic Diocese of Pala and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It is the first of its kind to be accredited at four star level by NAAC in the state of Kerala and reaccredited with A+ Grade (2nd cycle 2009) and with A Grade (3rd cycle 2014).
