Suo Moto cognizance taken by Supreme Court in Sushant Rohilla Suicide Case

SC has taken Suo Moto cognizance in Sushant Rohilla suicide on his friend’s letter by appointing Advocate Fali S. Nariman as Amicus Curaie.
Sushant Rohilla, 3rd year student of Amity Law School Delhi hanged himself in his residence at Sarojini Nagar on August 10. Apex Court observed that Mr. Siddharth Luthra who is representing Amity Law School & Mr. Ashok Mahajan is free to file any relevant document in this regard.
Sushant’s parents claimed that reason behind his low attendance was his fractured leg. The Amity panel report submitted last month & observed that the college & faculties were just following rules & regulations.
Raghav Sharma, Sushant’s friend and a law student at Amity had wrote a letter to CJI . The contents of letter is ” Sushant was continuously harassed & mentally tortured by teachers & treatment had been continued despite of being in knowledge of college authorities, it is also stated that this is not the first time that the student had been subjected to such harassment” & further, “Your Lordship, this is not a simple case of detaining a student because of low attendance but rather a systematic and continuous harassment of a law student by a particular teacher towards which authorities which turned blind eye.”
