SC issues contempt notice against Former SC Judge Markandey Katju

Earlier, last month, the Supreme Court had asked its former judge Markandey Katju to show up on November 11 and justify his blog, which had described the court judgment as legally flawed in setting aside the death penalty of the convict in Kerala’s Soumya rape and murder case.
Today, SC issued contempt notice against Markandey Katju, reply to this Katju said “Don’t give me threats, Mr. Gogoi. Don’t try to be funny with me,” he shouted out loud. This all was started after SC dictating the dismissal order. Justice  Rajan Gogoi handed copies of the blogs posted by Katju on his Facebook page to which he replied “This is a free country. I have a right to say what I want”. Thereafter justice Gogoi said we are issuing contempt notice to which Katju replied ” First learn to be modest. This is not the way Supreme Court judges should behave. Don’t provoke me.” “You are provoking us… Is there nobody here who will escort Justice Katju out of this courtroom?” Justice Gogoi said as the security personnel homed in on the retired judge.
Mr. Katju said I am sorry that I came here. Justice Gogoi said we too.
