Petitioner, P. Shivakumar, a social activist, approach Supreme Court by filling a PIL for seeking direction to Centre, Karnataka & Tamil Nadu as these two states are witnessing the violent protest regarding the distribution of Cauvery water.
Adish Aggarwala, Senior Advocate, appearing for petitioner, sought urgent hearing of PIL saying that tomorrow there is Band in Karnataka & the day after, the situation would be similar in Tamil Nadu.
Petition also sought states be directed to take urgent action in order to maintain law & order & provide security to Public & Private properties & citizens of both states. Further, the leaders should be accountable for all damages caused to properties & be asked to pay up them.
On 12 September, Apex Court modified its earlier order to Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs water instead of 15,000 cusecs per day till September 20 to Tamil Nadu.
Bench headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur and A M Khanwilkar said Let it be listed for tomorrow for hearing.
