Popularly known by the initials DSK, he is the former head of the International Monetary Fund and one time French President hopeful. Strauss-Kahn came into this controversy when it was revealed that he was involved in multiple cases of orgies in the US and Europe with various women and big businessmen. His claim to this was that he was ‘seeking recreation’ from the international politics and its stress. The case however got spiced up when it was revealed that several of those women were prostitutes who were paid for the acts.
However the Court has now acquitted DSK of his charges due to lack of evidence. The judges observed that his claim that the prostitutes were brought to him by the businessmen and he had no idea they were being paid is not something that can be ignored in the circumstances that the prosecution failed to present enough evidence to convict him.
Strauss-Kahn’s lawyer was reported saying at one point that the case against him was totally empty and the case was being run more on the moral ground than the legal one, since it was never proven that Strauss-Kahn was in fact aware of the payments made to those prostitutes.
