Jammu and Kashmir High Court said that if degrees are provided to people without studying, India will soon become a nation of block heads.
Justice M.H.Attar recently said, “Insatiable human greed has caused immense damage to our educational system. It is only to be imagined what will happen to a nation where, without studying educational degrees would be provided to the people. The country will become nation of block heads, thus, making its future dark.”
Crime Branch filed two separate cases in Jammu and Srinagar Offices to investigate illegal practices by some Elementary Teachers Training Colleges in October,2013.
A report was made by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on the basis of the FIRs. It stated that these Colleges deals with huge amounts in hundreds of crores. The report also stated that huge amounts from Rs.45,000 to Rs.80,000 were taken from the each candidate promising them to provide with degrees and certificates by Elementary Teachers Training Colleges which did not fulfil the basic norms laid down by National Council for Teachers Education.
Justice Attar invoked great philosopher Socrates, who said, “An education purchased by money is worst than no education at all”.
The Judge also quoted what Shakespeare has said, “No legacy is as rich as honesty”.
