Centre to libraries norms for legal procurement.

The centre will be soon notifying norms for hiring of agents by foreign armament companies. It is hoped that it will make some transparency in the country’s defence procurement process which is under the scanner after the Chopper’s scam.
The sources of the defence ministry are said to have framed the guidelines on authorized agents or representatives which are totally going to be different from the illegal middlemen.
The new policy also seeks to encourage registration of a greater number of agents for transparency as there are hardly any legalized defence agents because of stringent guidelines. The task of agents is going to help the foreign armaments companies or firms through the pace of Indian arm procurement system in order to respond to the tender, trials, price negotiations etc.
According to the sources the agents will be paid reasonable and rational remuneration by the hiring company.
