Calcutta HC sought report from SP on police role

Today, Calcutta High Court directed Superintendent of Police to file report on role of two officers of Madhyamgram Police Station in North 24  Paraganas by Tuesday.
The case of alleged molestation of TMC student leader & her mother by goons, the incident was took place in May 2016. It has been alleged by Petitioner that police was inactive during investigation of case.
Court was shocked when it was observed to court that even statement under section 164 CrPC was not recorded by police before Judicial Megistrate.
Counsel for Petitioner contended that statement before Judicial Megistrate was mandatory in an offense of 354 (b) (assault on woman with intention to outrage her modesty) of IPC, which is the case herein.
Judge Dipankar Dutta also expressed distress over lack of security to girl and her mother during investigation by police.
Now, Superintendent of Police has been directed by Calcutta HC to file a report on role of police in this case. The case is fixed for hearing on next Tuesday and same for submission of report.
