Rajeswaran, retired judge of the Madras high court, has been appointed the new chairman of the P T Lee Chengalvarayan trust which runs several technical education institutions and sits on real estate worth several hundred crores.
The chairman post fell vacant after retired judge A K Rajan quit the post in a huff, alleging harassment and harm to his self-respect at the hands of some trustees.
A division bench of Justice R Sudhakar and Justice S Vaidhyanathan nominated Justice Rajeswaran who will remain in the post for the remaining period, ending September 19, 2017. The term of other trustees is to end on the same date. The resource-rich trust is governed by a scheme decree prepared by the high court in the eighties. The decree mandates that the chairman should be a former judge of the high court.
