Introduction to Youth Forum on Foreign Policy
It is an initiative that seeks to develop an informed and substantive dialogue on foreign policy issues among India’s youth, and to ensure that India’s foreign policy is more responsive to the concerns of the youth.
It seeks to bring together Foreign Policy Stakeholders (policy makers, government officials, members of political parties, policy think thanks) and youth groups on the same platform to discuss specific thematic and regional foreign policy issues.
Vision of the Foreign Policy Fellowship Programme
We believe that discourse on ‘International relations and foreign Policy are too important to be left to the specialists’, the involvement of substantive and informed dialogue and research is an essential part of bringing it into day to day discussion.
The fellowship seeks to stimulate and enhance young people’s capacity for research and praxis. It seeks to address a growing need for education that can create an ecosystem for research and make foreign policy and relations an interior part of the academic curriculum that is present in the country.
It looks forward to establish an interface that would bring the young researchers in close proximity with the esteemed and experienced people from their field of study. We have a mission to stimulate large numbers of students to reflect and research. The themes of the fellowship will keep changing over the years and so will the number of fellows.
It also aims at establishing a fertile ground for research in India for International Relations and foreign policy and help the young minds of our country to contribute in international discourse and form views and opinions. Our aim is to enable them in not just research but brevity, articulation, interaction and develop other skills that will enhance their academic experience. This programme looks forward to creating a think tank in the country to participate and lead our country in this field.
This year as it commences, the foreign policy fellowship seeks to bring together 6 intelligent fellows, from varied economic background, for the purpose of carrying out intensive research about their respective themes. The four-month long fellowship from September till December 2015 will also give the fellows an opportunity to participate in several thrilling events that will help them hone their research as well as non-academic skills. We expect the fellows will enrich this exciting and intellectually stimulating venture with their youthful vigour and spirit of enquiry and commitment.
