The Education Industry is one of the growing hubs of minting money in the current era. Not only parents want their children to get good education, but also want them placed in the best colleges. The competition and greed for positions in such colleges in so much that people have started resorting to illegal means to confirm their entry in a well established university. The Vyapam Scam is the result of this greed instilled in the minds of the generation of parents and students today.
Vyapam is an acronym for Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal. It was a massive admission and recruitment scam involving senior officials, businessmen, officials etc. The Scam erupted in 2013 when it was reported that bribes were paid for admission in medical colleges. In exchange for kickbacks, politicians and bureaucrats were allowing impostors to take the admission exam. Similarly, proxy candidates were used for recruitments exams for jobs as government teachers and doctors.
A wave of uncertainty filled in the minds of the students not only in Madhya Pradesh but all over India as they started considering  that how pointless it is to give any competitive exam. The end result to every exam would be, people with position using their power to obtain seats for their undeserving children when so many deserving candidates were disheartened since they lost their chance to study in the best universities as their parents did not hold any key position.
A figure of 77 lakh candidates was concluded having paid bribes for admission by the investigative team. With such a huge number involved, the scam was a big hit to the belief that people vouched for in the spirit of education. Scams like these give a true picture of the massive existence of corruption in our country and the deficiency of government in ousting it from the political and legal scenario of our nation.
