The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam is also known as ‘Vyapam scam’. This scam is not so new and is more than a decade old. MPPEB is a board responsible for conducting medical examinations and it is alleged that many candidates bribe the politicians so that their approach enables them to crack the exam. It is also alleged that such candidates are even asked to leave their OMR sheets blank so that they can be randomly assigned higher marks. Impersonation i.e. the person writes the exam is not the one who applies is also common.
The saddening part is that almost 50 people have died under unknown and mysterious circumstances. Recently, a Reporter of TV Today Group was found dead after interviewing the parents of an accused of this scam who herself died a mysterious death. Mr. Arun Sharma, the Dean of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, who was assisting against such candidates, was also found dead in a hotel in Delhi.
It is now to be seen what happens after investigation promised by Chief Minister, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
