Uttar Pradesh senior minister Gayatri Prajapati from Samajwadi Party has Rape charges on him and six others for raping a women and attempt to rape her minor daughter. He was arrested on 15th March in State capital (Lucknow). He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Mr. Prajapati had been absconding for over two weeks; he went missing amidst campaigning for the latest UP assembly elections after the Supreme Court ordered the state police to file a case against him on the allegation of a woman that the minister had, along with six other men, gang-raped her and attempted to rape her 16-year-old daughter.
Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav stated before the press that the party will have no allegiance in protecting Gayatri Prajapati pertaining to the veracity and graveness of the charges imposed on the minister in question which might be one of the several causes which Samajwadi Party lost such drastically in Uttar Pradesh Election.
The apex court had ordered the Uttar Pradesh Police to submit a report with regards to the action taken by them at the time of the incidents in preceding eight weeks and Uttar Pradesh Police is in a duty bound manner working on the same and had arrested him. All the Airports were informed about this act and ordered them not to allow the minister a clear passage to travel anywhere. His passport is already impounded and non bailable warrant has been issued against him.
