Bar Council sets age limit for Law courses

The Bar Council of India (BCI), recently issued a gazette notification asking vice chancellors to ensure that the upper age limit for three year LLB course is 30 years and 20 years for five year LLB course.
The circular  clarified that Clause 28 of Schedule III of Legal Education Rules 2008 (which deals with age restriction for taking admission in LL.B course) has been restored by the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court in 2015. It also clarified that the judgment stands till date as the Supreme Court had refused to entertain  SLP which was filed to challenge the High Court verdict.
The circular acquired further importance as the SC on Wednesday had dismissed petitions challenging Maharashtra’s Common Entrance Test (CET) for law.
