Raghuvansh Singh criticizes prohibition law in Bihar

The new Prohibition Act imposed by  Mahagathbandhan Government in bihar has attracted lot of criticism in past few days because of unreasonable and draconian provisions. Recently Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, former Union Minister has strongly criticized the law and said that the same should be repealed.
He remarked that it is against the spirit of jurisprudence as the provisions of the Act empowers to levy communal fine on villages and arrest of entire adult members of the household if alcohol is found in that place.
He also said that it is not first time that such prohibition laws are passed in Bihar. Under the leadership of Karpoori Thakur similar law was passed  but the government fell soon, and the subsequent government had to repeal it. He also pointed out that how  Nitish Kumar’s activities were exactly the opposite till 2015 where regulations for availability of alcohol were so relaxed that revenue from it jumped from Rs. 200 crore to Rs. 4000 crore.
He also showed his support to Shahabuddin who had recently remarked that Nitish Kumar is a “circumstantial chief minister”. He remarked: ‘Forget chief ministers, we have had Prime Ministers, from P.V. Narasimha Rao to Deve Gowda to Manmohan Singh who can be termed ‘circumstantially created prime ministers’.
