Centre's reply seeked by Delhi HC as WhatsAap shares users' data.

On a plea filed by two people against the most popular messaging platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp, the bench of Justice G. Rohini and Justice Sangeeta Dhingra has sent notice to centre with respect to the privacy policy of these instant messaging services.
The allegation is that these companies are compromising on the part of privacy of the users. Recently, whatsapp has taken the decision to share data with its parent company, Facebook. This decision is deemed to be violative of privacy rights.
“The privacy policy is in stark contrast to the Privacy Policy existing from July 7, 2012. In its first revised modification on August 25, 2016, Respondents (WhatsApp, Facebook Inc. and Facebook India Online Pvt Ltd) have introduced this policy which severely compromises the rights of its users and makes the privacy rights of users completely vulnerable,” the petition plead.
Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi and Pratibha M Singh termed it as ‘serious breach of policy’.
A pop-up message emerges as soon as the user opens whatsapp which seeks agreement of the user to share their data to Facebook. If one clicks the ‘agree’ button, they have agreed to share the data.
It was alleged in the plea made by advocate Singhdev that many whatsapp users in India are not capable to understand this condition as they cannot comprehend it. This means that the user may simply switch the ‘agree’ button without having knowledge.
