Four Debarred Law Colleges of Mumbai namely, Government Law College in Churchgate, GJ Advani College in Bandra, Jitendra Chauhan College in Vile Parle and KC College in Churchgate were on no-admission list since 2013 due to non-fulfillment of basic norms with regard to inadequacy to teaching staff & classroom. Ten other colleges were fined for failing to seek BCI’s recognition.
“Every college which fulfills the condition before 5 September will be granted permission subject to LEC (Legal Education Team of BCI) approval. We might ask govt. to give us undertaking that it will appoint teachers in 3-4 months” said LEC member.
Above stated colleges are state funded. It is expected that BCI will approach govt. authorities so that more funds will be given for hiring more teachers.
Now, BCI has given temporary relief to fulfill the norms before September 5.
This tempered Stance of BCI address this concern which tightens the standards of legal education.
