PIL Filed Against the Attendance Policy of Amity Law School in Delhi High Court

Public Interest Litigation has been filed by the Petitioner, Shri Divyadeep Chaturvedi, who is a lawyer, he contended that this institute is “arbitrarily departed” from stipulated requirement of having 75% of aggregate attendance in all subjects by insisting upon 75% attendance in each subject.
Few days back, A law student, Sushant Rohilla of this university has committed suicide when he was not allowed to sit in sixth semester exams due to shortage of attendance.
In an interview, petitioner said ” This petition is only intended to seek institutional reforms for the benefit of students & to bring greater transparency in management so that such incidents can be prevented in future by putting more accessible & transparent system, to which students can easily access their attendance records. I have also prayed to appoint student counsellors so that students in distress can approach them before it would be too late. I hope the concerned institute will eventually understand the necessity of measures.”
The PIL was listed before First Bench of HC & now, it would be heard by another bench on September, 5.
