PIL seeking ban of Pokemon Go filed in Gujrat HC

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game based on Global Positioning System (GPS).
The crazy going public over the Pokemon Go game cannot be neglected. There is a bad news for Pokemon Go fans in Gujrat. A PIL (Public Interest Litigation) seeking ban over the game has been filed in the HC. The game has not been officially launched in India, but an enthusiastic atmosphere already exists. It is played by numerous youngsters across the country.
The PIL highlighted some incidents so as to make a stronger appeal to ban the game. The two main arguments posed against the game were that:

  • It was a threat to life as people are so indulged in the game that they often risk their lives. Sometimes they may face severe accidents.
  • It was violation of privacy. Trespassing is common as the player would enter any public or private property in order to catch a

The game is attracting criticism from all over the world as there are several deaths and severe accidents reported due to the game. Some countries are already taking harsh steps to ban the game.
Recently in Vadodra, Gujrat a museum prohibited the entry of Pokemon Go players to stop nuisance and disturbance. Security and safety of the visitors being the primary reason behind the ban, administrative department of the museum has tightened the security to ensure that no Pokemon Go player seeks in the premises. The players’ view is so restricted to the phone that they enter the area with tall grasses filled with poisonous snakes without paying any heed to the security personnel.
The petition has been admitted by the Gujrat HC but is yet to come up for hearing.
